JCST 征文通知 (CCF Chip 2022 Special Section on Approximate Computing Circuits and Systems)

Call for Papers --- CCF Chip 2022 Special Section on

“Approximate Computing Circuits and Systems”

===============================================

AIMS AND SCOPE

*******************

In the post-Moore era, the further reduction of the energy consumption of computing systems cannot be achieved by transistor scaling. Multiple alternative paths are now being actively explored for continuous improvement in energy efficiency, including novel device research and novel computer architecture research. Meanwhile, it is noticed that many applications we widely use today are error-tolerant, that is, a controlled amount of error occurred in their internal computation does not affect their application-level quality. Given this, a new computing paradigm, called approximate computing, is attracting more attention in the past decade. Targeting at the error-tolerant applications, it allows some relaxation in the computation accuracy to achieve further reduction in energy consumption. Despite the recent progress in the research on approximate computing, there are still many new opportunities to design better approximate computing circuits and systems, due to the additional dimension brought by the approximate computing paradigm, namely, error. This special section of JCST hence invites authors to submit papers discussing their recent research progress in approximate computing circuits and systems, with focus including, but not limited to:

- Approximate arithmetic circuit design

- Approximate computer architecture design

- Approximate memory design

- Design of reconfigurable approximate circuits and systems

- Design automation methods for approximate circuits, including approximate logic synthesis and high-level synthesis

- Error analysis methods of approximate circuits and systems

- Approximate computing techniques for specific applications, such as machine learning and digital signal processing

SCHEDULE

*******************

Manuscript Submission: May 31, 2022

First Revision/Reject Notification: July 15, 2022

Revision due of revised papers: August 31, 2022

Final Decision: September 30, 2022

Camera-Ready: October 10, 2022

Expected Publication: November 2022

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT

*******************

This special section is co-organized with the 2022 CCF Chip Conference, which is to be held in Nanjing, China from July 29, 2022 to July 31, 2022. The authors of the high-quality papers based on the first round of review will be invited to give a talk on their submitted works at the conference. Thus, one additional requirement is that one author of the submission can attend the conference and present their work.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE

*******************

All submissions must be done electronically through JCST's e-submission system at: https://mc03.manuscriptcentral.com/jcst

with a manuscript type: “Special Section on Approximate Computing Circuits and Systems”.
